Cyclone Tauktae LIVE: PM Modi announces ₹1,000 cr relief package for Gujarat : The Prime Minister will leave Delhi at 9.30 am on Wednesday and land at Bhavnagar, Gujarat. From Bhavnagar, the PM will proceed for an aerial survey of Una, Diu, Jafarabad and Mahuva. He will also hold a review meeting at Ahmedabad after the aerial survey.
As many as 45 persons lost their lives in cyclone- related incidents in the state as it left behind a trail of destruction along the coast, uprooting electric poles, trees and damaging thousands of houses and roads.
The cyclone, categorised as an extremely severe cyclonic storm on Monday, has now weakened into a depression and lay centred over south Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat region on Wednesday morning, the India Meteorological Department said.
Cyclone Tauktae has impacted the weather conditions in several parts of Northern India. Many areas like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi are likely to witness rainfall in the coming few hours on Wednesday.

PM Modi on Wednesday announced financial assistance of ₹1,000 crore for immediate relief activities in Gujarat. The Centre will also deploy an Inter-Ministerial Team to the state to assess the extent of damage in Gujarat, Prime Minister’s Office said.

Ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to Cyclone Tauktae in all the affected states, PM Modi announced on Wednesday. While ₹50,000 would be given to the injured.
