Went across the country. Imposed from 24th March and thereafter from 14th April. Shops across the country that were closed due to the lockdown, which has been extended till May 3, will resume from Saturday. The Union Home Ministry on Friday night issued a notification approving the opening of all retail outlets except multi-brand malls and single brand malls.
The Union Home Ministry on Friday night issued an order allowing the opening of shops in market complexes and residential complexes registered under the Shops and Establishments Act in all the states and union territories. However, the order makes it clear that multi-brand and single brand malls cannot be started. All shops in any mall will still be closed.
These shops can be operated with 50 per cent or half of the staff present. All shops must be staffed by staff and customers. In addition, all policies relating to social discrimination must be upheld. However, these concessions will not apply to hotspot areas and containment zones.
An important condition has been laid down in the order of the Home Ministry regarding the opening of shops in the areas where market complexes will not be opened . The opening of market complex shops in municipal corporations and municipal areas has not yet been allowed but the opening of residential complexes around the house and sporadic shops has been allowed. While Muni. Shops have also been allowed to open in the market complex outside the limits.
